The problem
Ocean maps look complete, but the knowledge behind them is uneven. Some places are surveyed often. Others rest on old or estimated values drawn as fact.
So the first thing Aethon builds is a clear record of what is actually known, and what is not.

Why it exists
Much of our world is still unexplored, and the ocean is the closest place to start. The work is held to one standard:
Leave every place, ecosystem and community better than we found it.
The longer mission is about people: work they love, and exploration that brings them together. Aethon started in Pennsylvania; bases follow wherever missions grow.
Money is a tool. The mission is the point.
We make things free when we sustainably can, and explain any cost. What Aethon earns moves the work forward, and people are paid fairly. What matters is how we treat people and what we give back.
Reuse it anywhere
The method works for any stretch of ocean.
- Anyone can copy the method, its open libraries and the licence checklist.
- Local things are checked locally: data owners, permits, law and language.
- Each region is one settings file. Copies carry no people or private data.
The aim, not a promise, is the whole ocean, region by region. Project OS and the Bethlehem plans are separate: Aethon doesn't fund, own or run them; at most it may later share data and mapping methods.
