The honest basics.

What Aethon is, what's real today, and how it all fits together — no spin.

An ocean exploration technology company. Aethon builds intelligence and exploration systems for environments humans cannot easily reach, beginning with Earth's oceans, and puts what it earns back into that work. Later frontiers are named on the roadmap, not being worked on today. Read the mission →

Both — and we're honest about which is which. This site is live. Aethon Intelligence is in development, and nothing we show of it is a live product screenshot. The ocean-exploration mission is the long road beyond that — years, not weeks. We'd rather under-promise and ship.

Aethon Intelligence is the first product — ocean intelligence sold to the people who need to decide where to survey next: research institutions, operators and industry. Mission-aligned apparel and goods contribute too. No hype, no get-rich schemes. All proceeds go straight back into the work. See what we build →

Mapping and measuring the parts of the ocean nobody has looked at properly. Explorers have seen less than 0.001% of the deep ocean seafloor (NOAA Ocean Exploration, April 2026) — we want to change that, starting with knowing precisely where the gaps are. Explore →

The ocean produces genuinely strange observations. We treat those as questions, not conclusions. An observation has to survive repeatable measurement, multiple independent sensors, testing against conventional explanations, and outside review before we call it anything — and “unresolved” is an honest, permanent-until-proven answer. We do not claim to have found non-human intelligence, and we will not. How we classify evidence →

Our whole planet, in order. The ocean first — what lies beneath — then the land, mountains, caves, and everything beneath us (Beneath), the world's mysteries (lost treasures, tombs, the unexplained), and the animals we share it with. Space comes only after Earth.

Most of our own planet is still unexplored, the ocean is choking on plastic, animals go uncared for — and the world isn't taught to think long-term. Aethon is built the other way: slow, patient, and pointed at things that take decades. See the problem →

No. It's not about the money — it's about the world. The money is a means: it funds the exploration, the protection, and the giving back. If we ever lose sight of that, call us on it.

Direct giving opens a little later — we want the structure set up honestly (likely a dedicated give-back arm) before we take a dollar. Aethon is a company (an LLC, not a nonprofit), so contributions today wouldn't be tax-deductible, and we'd rather wait and do it right, with receipts. The best support right now is following the work and telling someone who should know about it. How to support →

Join the mission, follow along, or take on a mission — some are paid skilled work, some are contributions that earn credit and recognition for the work itself. There is no points scheme and no equity: engineers, designers and builders build real things under the Aethon umbrella, and are credited for them. Open missions → · Join →

Aethon LLC is registered in Pennsylvania, USA, and that is where the work happens today. It is a deliberately boring choice for a company at this stage: forming where you actually are is simpler and cheaper than forming elsewhere and registering back into your home state anyway.

Ocean work is not bound to a desk — missions happen wherever the questions are, with partners who already operate there. If the company ever needs a different legal home, that is a decision to make when there is a concrete reason, with advice, rather than in advance.

Right now, one person — which is worth saying plainly rather than implying a building full of staff. Aethon LLC is bootstrapped, so nothing outside is bending the mission. The team grows through the work itself, with people who care about the same things. It takes everyone.
